THE HISTORY OF THE GLASS IN THE ANNUNCIATA CHURCH

There church of the Annunciata of the Sacro Monte di Varese was built at the end Six hundred, on a pre-existing religious building. In the eighties of the twentieth century, it was subjected to a complete restoration wanted by Monsignor Pasquale Macchirestoration which was completed in 1990. On the occasion of this intervention, the large window dedicated to the Madonna del Sacro Monte and to Pope Paul VI, commissioned to Longaretti, was created.

A work to be placed under the barrel vault of the church: which had the function of not dispersing heat and at the same time was a spiritual work of art, given the place, but also devotional in which Montini, Archbishop of Milan and Pontiff, was well recognizable and in veneration of the Madonna del Monte. And in this way Longaretti created it, using ancient techniques and adapting them to modern style and art.
